Clinique chubby stick: 11 two ton tomato

Hello sweetie pies! So Winter was all about dark tones and Gothic lips; a statement that only the bold would brave, but now the summer is here, it's time to inject a little colour- lots of colour in fact.
I have too many dark shades and neutral shades that tend to go unnoticed, and my makeup bag has been crying for a girly revamp.
I love Clinique skincare, but I don't know much about the brand in terms of make-up (apart from the foundations- fabulous btw); it made sense to give it a whirl! I've heard many things about the Chubby Sticks, some good some bad, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results- although it wasn't what I expected.
Considering it's called 'two ton tomato', I was expecting the reddest of the red, maybe a little too red to suit my skin tone (but a girls gotta try). However the balm aspect is a little deceiving and doesn't come out as bright as the intense red on the Chubby Stick… I was a little relieved I have to admit. Instead it comes out a girly peach colour that gets more intense when applied a couple more times. I do love how I can control the amount of colour I want, i.e. if it's a day time look then I'd only want one application- pretty but not too intense, whilst at night I might want to go a little crazy with the application and focus on the intense pop of colour.

As well as the pretty- but unexpected- colour, I love how moisturising it is, a quality that's hard to find in many lipsticks at the moment (brands like to focus more on the matte, intense colours than the ingredients and lip care). The Clinique Chubby Sticks are loaded with mango and Shea butters which leave lips feeling super nourished and with a girly sheen- not too shimmery like a thick and sometimes uncomfortable gloss, but a subtle shine.

I do tend to be a bit of a lipstick-phobe when it comes to my everyday make-up look, and sometimes nothing seems to do the job better than a simple pot of Vaseline when my lips feel dry. However, the Chubby Sticks  keep my lips feeling soft and nourished whilst adding the girly pop of colour I've been looking for! The easy-to-apply crayon style of the stick makes it a product that can be applied anywhere, whether it needs a top up or you feel like going bolder!

The colour-  which could have been a potential downfall- has worked out pretty well for me, but when looking to buy a Chubby Stick, then keep in mind that the colour could be a little lighter than expected. However, there is a more intense coloured Chubby Stick by Clinique that you can look out for!

For great discounts and offers on skincare and make-up I went to Chemistdirect.co.uk -You can find the product page for the 'two ton tomato' HERE which is currently on offer, although there are many more shades available on the site!
